When I sift through Coachella rumors, I oftentimes feel like a frustrated James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause, resisting the urge to shout:
“You’re tearing me apart! You say one thing, he says another, and everybody changes back again!”
Very little tempts me to take a chance on Coachella and journey to Indio for excruciating temperatures and overpriced beverages; however, when I heard that Britpop darlings Blur would be performing, my heart skipped a beat.
So far, line-up announcements are muddled. According to NME, the headlining acts for 2009–Blur, Pavement, and the Killers–are in fact set (although I can’t seem to access the article). Maybe because they are pushing a big pile of wrong? Another source states that Blur, Faith No More, and Morrissey are the confirmed headliners of Southern California’s (quite literally) hottest music festival.
The Coachella rumor forums are teeming with ardent Blur fans–though I do not see any official word from Coachella itself. Although Blur announced that they would reform in December, only two live shows are listed on the band’s website–both of which occuring in Hyde Park.
Let’s hope that official word will be soon.
